It’s not a recession, it’s a REVOLUTION!
March 27, 2009
I just caught this video on Twitter (thanks @anexemines and @tacanderson).
I think that there are a ton of great points to be made in this video regardless of what industry we are in, be it technology, real estate, etc.
The bottom line is that no one is going to save us and there is no magic bullet to climb out of this hole. Big companies will survive because…well, they are BIG. They will cut expenses (layoffs) and wait for the bottom. The problem with this is that the longer we wait, the longer we fall! If we don’t change the way we do things, the bottom will never come.
At the end of the day, the worst that could happen is that we do nothing. Take ownership, implement change and drive the revolution!
Perspective from Andy Andrews in a challenging time
March 24, 2009
Andy Andrews is one of my favorite authors. I dove into his book “The Traveler’s Gift” and have now read it twice. I often watch his PBS special “The Seven Decisions” when I am challenged in my mindset. I’m not sure how to explain it, whether it his personality, his gift for story telling, but either way I cannot help but take something out of everything that I see or hear on Andy.
This is a clip that I just found on YouTube of a recent appearance on CNN in promotion of his upcoming book “The Noticer”. From what I understand, the premise of the book is about a man named Jones that has a nack for pointing out the things that other miss (or gives them just a little perspective). In the environment that we live in, it is always nice to hear someone speak with not only hope in their voice, but a sense of responsibility and personal accountability. I hope you enjoy this clip and if you do… you should probably check out his new book.
Tips To Live A Happy And Rewarding Life
March 4, 2009
This is an amazing video and I think we should all take a moment once and a while and reflect on what is really important to us. In our current environment, with the world spinning out of control, it is easy to get caught up in it. Or if you are like me… You put your head down and drive forward without ever taking a moment to step back and make sure that you are even driving in the right direction.
I hope that you take as much from this video as I did! Enjoy!!

Choose to WIN!
January 11, 2009
I know that most of you have heard the saying that “Success is not for the chosen few, but for the few that choose!”
I recently came across a great story that illustrates this point extremely well. Now, I am a huge sports fan, but never really caught the college football bug. If I had, I may have related this story a bit earlier…
Tim Tebow and the Florida Gators had high hopes of not only being national champions, but also going undefeated for the first time in school history. This came to a crushing end when, in September while playing Ole Miss, the Gators found themselves down by 1 point with time running out. Tim drove his team to the 32 yard line with 55 seconds left to go. On 4th and 1 the team decided to go for the first down with a more sure shot at the game winning field goal. Ole Miss had other plans and took the win from Florida with a final score of 31-30…
Crushed, realizing that not only would they not achieve their undefeated season, but their hopes of being National Champions were in serious jeopardy..
Tim and the rest of the Florida Gators had a choice, buy in to the discouragement of defeat or to pick their heads up, dust themselves off and draw a line in the sand as to what they were to accomplish with the rest of their season. The following is the final moment of Tim Tebow’s press conference following the loss.
These were more than just words to Tim, they were exactly what the entire team was feeling and Tim as their leader was the voice of their vision. They knew that anything less that complete dominance in the remainder of the season would leave them out of the national championship.
Not only did they win all of the next 8 games, they won them each by 28 points or more! And now… The Florida Gators are National Champions!
I know many of us have been in a position when our hopes and dreams seem to never get that break that we need. But at the end of the day we still have a choice… are we going to let these moments take us off track from the greater, big picture prize? Or are we going to use these moments as opportunities to clarify our resolve and commitment to success?
At the end of the day, it is your choice.
